BookMyShow was founded by business school friends Ashish Hemrajani, Parikshit Dar and Rajesh Balpande who were struck by the lack of a convenient, digital option to book tickets to India’s favorite pastime: movies. In its first years of operations, BookMyShow assisted theatres with inventory management and transitioning ticket booking capabilities online. In 2007, the Company launched a consumer facing platform which has grown to be one of the leading online ticketing destination for both cinema and live event ticketing in India.

Since first meeting in early 2015, Stripes has gotten to know the Company well and has witnessed consistent execution, rapid, capital efficient growth and continued innovation. When BookMyShow decided to raise a Series C financing, they selected Stripes to lead the round given our operating experience in digital ticketing, as well our history of building transactional internet brands. Since our investment, we have worked alongside the Company to grow the live events category in the Indian market and partner with world class acts to delivery new to market inventory. The is well on its way in its evolution from a ticketing portal to a true ‘entertainment destination’ as well as entering new international territories, such as Indonesia.
