Eric Girouard, BRUNT Workwear’s founder & CEO, grew up in a blue-collar household and spent his summers roofing and landscaping alongside his high school buddies. As one of the few people from his circle to go to college and pursue a business degree, he always knew he wanted to build something for his community.
In 2019, Eric set out to reinvent the workwear category, founding BRUNT with his lifelong friends in mind. While sports brands have constantly innovated on design & comfort, workwear brands have lagged, reproducing the same boots for decades. Eric started by going right to the source, learning side-by-side from his friends in the trades about what their uniform consisted of and how BRUNT could improve it. Eric obsessed over product and worked to develop a high-quality, value-driven work boot for today’s construction workers and tradespeople.
BRUNT’s first boot launched on its website in 2020 and immediately sold out. As BRUNT introduced additional styles, the boots continued to consistently sell out. In 2021, BRUNT expanded into pants, hoodies and jackets and, similar to boots, each new category introduced flew off the shelves.
Each BRUNT product is named after one of Eric’s lifelong friends, giving recognition to the often overlook population of more than 17 million US workers in the construction, installation, maintenance and repair industries. By selling direct-to-consumer, BRUNT can deliver the highest quality products at affordable price points, all while staying highly connected and engaged with the community.
After meeting Eric, we were immediately impressed by his vision for the brand and bold mission to reinvent the workwear uniform. In 2021, BRUNT chose to partner with Stripes because of our experience growing apparel and footwear businesses and our ability to take an active role in omnichannel strategy and teambuilding. We are thrilled to partner with Eric and the entire BRUNT team in building the leading workwear brand for the modern worker.
