Craftsy is a premier online learning destination for crafting enthusiasts, with over 1,300 classes available on-demand and crafting kits available for purchase.
Craftsy was founded by John Levisay, Josh Scott, Todd Tobin and Bret Hanna in 2010 to provide a high-quality online learning platform for enthusiasts seeking inspiration and premium educational content. Craftsy provides hundreds of professionally produced online video courses in over a dozen categories that serve a range of skill levels, and also offers kits and supplies for purchase that help users put their learning to use.
After initially launching their platform in quilting and knitting categories, Craftsy has successfully expanded its offering into a host of additional fields, including cake decorating, drawing, woodworking and photography, among many others.
The Company works with the best instructors in each field, leveraging its proprietary, state-of-the-art production process to ensure only the highest quality video and learning content reaches its customers. The Company’s classes and supplies, as well as its industry-defining brand, have made it a beloved destination for millions of users in over 180 countries across the globe.
Ron Shah and Dan Marriott were introduced to Craftsy through Stripes’ network in early 2014, and were highly impressed by the Company’s exceptional product quality, passionate user base and highly capable management team. When deciding to raise growth capital, the Craftsy team decided to partner with Stripes due to our deep operational experience in the commerce, content and media categories, focused recruiting and business development capabilities and shared vision for continuing to build Craftsy into an enduring company synonymous with life-long learning online.
In May 2017, Stripes announced that Comcast NBCUniversal signed an agreement to purchase majority ownership of Craftsy.
