The Shibumi Shade works with the wind, not against it®, and stands out for being lightweight, easy to set up and take down, and durable.
Shibumi was founded in 2016 by two brothers, Dane and Scott, and their best friend, Alex, who, assigned to the task of beach setup and takedown on family vacations, were tired of typical bulky beach tents and flimsy umbrellas. The trio took matters into their own hands – literally – sourcing materials at the local hardware store, teaching themselves to sew, and constructing their first prototype at home. As soon as the Shibumi Shade hit the beach, other beachgoers had to know where they could get their own. Every year since then, word of mouth on the beach has propelled Shibumi to explosive growth.
The company’s iconic first product has garnered a cult-like following and can be seen on beaches around the country - from Emerald Isle to Santa Monica and from Cape Cod to Oahu. The Shibumi Shade works with the wind, not against it®, and stands out for being lightweight, easy to set up and take down, and durable.
Stripes believes in investing in amazing products, and the Shibumi Shade is just that. We were immediately impressed by the consumer love and excited by the opportunity to own the beach with the Shibumi team. We are thrilled to partner with Dane, Scott, and Alex to continue to create beloved products that facilitate great times on the beach.
