Founded in 2014 and headquartered in Austin, Texas, Siete Family Foods is one of the fastest growing natural food brands in the United States, offering premium Mexican-American products, including tortillas, chips, dips and hot sauces. Led by Miguel Garza, Siete was born out of a family dilemma: Miguel’s sister, Veronica, suffered from several autoimmune disorders and adopted a grain-free diet, which excluded foods like tacos and fajitas. To support their sister and daughter, all seven members of the Garza family adopted a grain-free, health-focused diet beginning in 2009. During this time, Veronica started to experiment with grain-free dishes her family could enjoy, beginning with their initial product – an almond flour tortilla. Since then, the company has expanded its product set and has built a reputation as a disruptive player in the Mexican food category, by providing a selection of delicious, grain-free alternatives to traditional products on the market.
Stripes has followed the Siete story for two years, first as loyal customers, fans and friends. As we have gotten to know Miguel, Veronica and the rest of the team, we have been consistently impressed by the authenticity of the brand and the team’s tremendous execution. Siete’s celebration of family and Mexican-American heritage has created a truly organic brand that connects to a broad audience, driven by unique values rooted in family, inclusivity, innovation, and a commitment to bringing the consumer better-for-you alternatives. We have watched Siete grow from a single tortilla sold door-to-door in Austin to 19 SKUs across four categories sold in over 4,000 doors today.
In 2018, Stripes was offered the proprietary opportunity to lead the company’s first institutional financing due to our team’s track record of partnering with founder-led companies, our expertise in scaling online and offline branded consumer businesses and our ability to take an active role in digital strategy, marketing, team-building.
