Building Shake Shack business into an internationally beloved brand from inception, culminating in its IPO
17 years at Union Square Hospitality Group as a founding partner, playing a leading role in building an industry-leading restaurant company
David is an Operating Partner of Stripes focusing on the restaurant, consumer food and beverage industries. He played a key role in Stripes’ investment in Snooze, an industry leading and culinary driven breakfast and brunch restaurant company, and currently sits on its Board.
David also is an investor, Board member and Executive Advisor for several restaurant and retail businesses including Hai Hospitality (Uchi, Uchiko, Loro) and Hattie B's Hot Chicken. Additionally, he advises Boston Properties on strategic direction, design and operation of their restaurant, food and beverage within their properties.
Prior to joining Stripes, David served as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Development Officer of Shake Shack, being instrumental in its growth from a hot dog cart in Madison Square Park to a multi-national burger company with over 60 locations just prior to its IPO. During his 17 years as one of the founding partners of Union Square Hospitality Group, David’s role included being President of Growth Businesses, focusing on building Shake Shack, Blue Smoke and Union Square Events, and earlier leading the design and development of USHG fine-dining restaurants in addition to being the company’s CFO. Before USHG, David spent 11 years as Vice President and Partner of Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, a leading Chicago-based multi-concept restaurant company. During this time, he was also Senior Vice President and CFO for Maggiano’s and Corner Bakery.

David lives with his wife, Susan, in the city and out east. In his spare time, you are likely to find David traveling, enjoying sports of all kinds…or on some crazy food or beverage quest like finding the best Omakase or Mole sauce.
